Your friendly neighborhood composer, and surprisingly, the sole musician behind the tunes of Murder Drones: Pummel Party. It's been about a year since I first jumped into this crazy project, and honestly, it feels a bit wild that this is my first proper devlog. But hey, better late than never, right? I wanted to give you all a real peek behind the curtains – the good, the challenging, and maybe even a little bit of the weird!
Let's talk music! It feels like ages ago, but our first batch of soundtracks landed in the game with version 3.3 in April 2025. That was all for the Worker Drones, giving you some ambient vibes as you tried to survive. But here's a little secret: I actually started cooking those tracks way back in August 2024!
I vividly remember those late nights. October 10th, in particular, was a blur: "Lost and Found" was finished by 1 AM, and "Third" was polished off by 3 AM. Then came February, bringing "Dropdown" and "Congregation." The final push for Volume 1 happened in April, with "Snowfall," "Nightmare in Flesh," and "Behind the Scene" hitting just a week before release. It was a sprint!
After version 3.3, we took a short breather, but after nearly two months, I dove headfirst into Volume 2. This was a big one because it included the music for our Murder Drones' perspectives, which finally made their debut in version 3.4. It was a different kind of challenge, making music that felt right for being the hunter!
And now? Volume 2 is still a work in progress, and honestly, it’s been a bit of a grind. I'm deep into creating two entirely new soundtracks specifically for the upcoming Offices update. It's a lot of work for one person, juggling themes and atmospheres, but I'm pouring my heart into it, and I truly hope the results will be worth it. So far, I'm happy to report that one of these new tracks is complete! Phew!
Speaking of the Offices, this update is a massive undertaking for the whole team. It’s crazy to think about, but we've been working on these Offices since last November – that's over 8 months of development! We're putting in a ton of effort, and I can assure you, we're making some serious progress towards getting it into your hands.
Now, I know everyone's itching for a release date. And yes, we do have one internally! However, we're not sharing it publicly just yet. We've learned our lesson the hard way in the past: things happen, development can be unpredictable, and we really don't want to make promises we might not be able to keep. We're focused on delivering a solid, polished update, and that sometimes means taking our time. Thanks for understanding!
On the bright side, being a small team means we get some pretty unique moments. Like when Dum, our absolute rockstar, accidentally deleted the newest killer's animations three times! Thanks, Roblox animation system! It's these kinds of challenges and hilarious mishaps that make development what it is.
We're all really hoping this update makes the game better and helps us reach more players. It's been a little disheartening to see the game's player count drop recently, and we're committed to turning that around with exciting new content.
On a more personal note, it's no secret that seeing the game's online numbers dip has been a bit sad for me. And honestly, real life has been throwing a lot of pressure my way lately too. For me, working on Murder Drones: Pummel Party and creating these sounds is more than just a job; it's a way to decompress, to lose myself in creativity, and to forget about the outside world for a bit. Knowing you all enjoy the music and the game makes it all worth it.
And speaking of creativity, I've had a wild idea brewing in my head recently: making my own Murder Drones game. Think of it as a separate project, but one that would potentially bring to life all the cool, cancelled content and ideas that didn't quite fit into Pummel Party. It’s a pretty ambitious thought, and doing it properly would definitely require more motivated people than our current small team. So, if I find enough passion and the right crew, maybe I'll do something totally crazy down the line. But that's a story for another devlog, perhaps!
Thank you for sticking with us on this journey! Your support and enthusiasm fuel our passion.
With some love and respect,
Foxplort.
